I was fortunate to recently spend 3 days in Yosemite where I was able to bike, hike and even climb to the top of Nevada Falls! The action, volume and power of spring waterfalls in Yosemite is awe inspiring!
Climbing up and down a mountain side had other, less desirable consequences. That night I needed to bring down my level of pain so I could rest and be ready for the remaining hike to the giant sequoias.
On a narrow bed, I used tiny movements, and moved so slowly that I could discern how other parts of my body responded. For example, I was noticing if, or how much, I was feeling my spine while moving one shoulder forward an inch or two, and then back to its starting place.
After doing parts of a few Anat Baniel Method Transformational Movement Lessons the pain was no longer sharp. I didn’t become pain free that night, but I could fall asleep and was rested enough to enjoy hiking to the big trees!
The Anat Baniel Method is a simple, potent approach that we can use in instances of pain or impeded movement. Using our brain’s virtually limitless ability to change and grow we can discover new and easier ways to move.
